Built by the Chachapoyas civilization in 5th century at 3080 meters above the sea level, the Kuelap Fortress is situated on a mountain summit overlooking the Utcubamba Valley in Amazonas Region of northern Peru. After many times of desertion this construction in ruin is invaded by nature.The Site is a magical and wild place, filled with mystery.We wanted to honor this landscape where the Nature and man-made construction become one, in perfect harmony after many centuries.The project is considered as an extension of the surrounding landscape. It immerges from both the hill and the ruins. The program consists of two entities, on one side exhibition spaces and the other a lodge for visitors of the site. At the main entry level of the building, two separated access are organized, for these two different entities.
