KSANA, a matcha tea shop known for its tranquil atmosphere and appreciation of fleeting moments, has opened its second branch. Staying true to its original inspiration, the name KSANA comes from both Japanese and Thai word meaning “a moment” - a concept that remains at the core of its design and experience. This new branch continues to embody the passage of time through design, particularly with the use of a sundial as a central theme. Sunlight filters through the space in the afternoon, casting shadows that mirror KSANA’s logo at the tea preparation area. This interplay of light and shadow seamlessly blends nature with design.
Located in Central World, the new KSANA branch embraces a winter forest theme with a monochromatic palette of white, grey and black. Inspired by a winter journey in Sapporo, Japan. The colorless creates a sense of stillness, offering visitors retreat from the city’s chaos.
From the outside, the shop resembles a massive black stone with rugged, natural cracks. But stepping inside reveals a different world- one surrounded by white foliage, evoking a snow- covered forest. Materials were carefully selected to complement the theme: a black granite counter, dark wooden walls, gray flooring and delicate white branches arranged to mimic snow- laden trees. Even the staff uniforms are black, allowing the vibrant green of the matcha and the guests themselves to stand out.
Beyond the main counter, KSANA’s new branch offers a more intimate setting for those who wish to fully immerse themselves in the tea ceremony. A secluded space, framed by intertwined branches, provides a quiet refuge where guests can focus entirely on the ritual of preparing and enjoy matcha.
While this is KSANA’s second branch, it continues to express its original philosophy of “a moment in time” Yet, it does so in a fresh way- replacing a traditional sundial with shifting light and shadows, swapping the colors of nature for the serenity of a winter forest and prioritizing personal space. This unique approach not only enhances KSANA’s aesthetic appeal but also creates a sanctuary where visitors can truly experience tranquility in every detail of the design.
