The Korean Presbyterian Church acquired a 24-acre site in northern New Jersey which had the base structures and open areas to establish a strong community campus. Existing outdoor recreation and reflection areas together with a former religious facility set the scene for the new building.
Parishioners at the new facility build community through worship, bible study, recreation, art appreciation, and dining.
The sanctuary holds 380 worshipers and is acoustically designed to accommodate music performances as well as its traditional function. The adjacent multipurpose space sits below a large skylight and features a mezzanine art gallery. The lower level contains children’s chapels for three age groups as well as indoor recreation space.
The vertical fins of the sanctuary allow diffused light in and out of the space, reinforce the acoustic quality of performances, and serve as a sculptural element in the landscape.
