Konrad Espresso Bar is our project for a progressive tech company owned by two brothers with a knack for coffee. The brothers, although Canadian, grew up in Brazil and developed a keen liking for roasting and drinking coffee. When they found and hired our firm, they required us to design a coffee bar that would make a statement in a large gathering space and become a focal point for parties and lunches.
Designing for a tech company, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to design a futuristic, high-tech sculpture with a service function. We used negro marquina slabs and stainless steel inlays for a sophisticated, sharp design. The mitered corners required a monolithic fabrication and the piece was carried up the stairs of a Soho loft building by a dozen men in 3 hours. We are not perfectionists, but we will go the extra mile to make it right. Our work and clients deserve it.
Our design, as we were told, invigorated the space and the culture of the company, not to mention their holiday parties.
