The developer supplied five by eight bathroom was untouched by the original renovation of this raw loft space and the original architect was not available to work on this last space. The client wanted a bathroom with spa like qualities; simple, fresh minimal and modern. They were interested in the new space complimenting the rest of the loft, without emulating it. The floor plan developed as two off set rectangles, with the shower entry at the intersection. Additional space was carved from a corner of the master bedroom, where a fantastic iron strapped concrete column became an unusual companion in the new shower area. The Palladian fourteen foot ceilings are exaggerated by the relatively compact floor plan. Entering through a large pivot door of hand finished maple, this and the polished plaster above the eight foot datum line are materials that reflect the design of the loft. The other materials of the room are Italian limestone, mirror, accents of stainless steel and white Corian. The sink and toilet occupy the first space with the shower occupying the entire additional space. The sink was fabricated in corian and was designed to accommodate.
