Köstem Hotel is located in the old Greek Village Alaçatı in Çesme, İzmir. The hotel consists of three seperate buildings, two storeys high and re-built preserving the original stonework. The projects interiror concept was created by interior Architect and Designer Selina Kazazoglu, in collaboration with the expectations of the hotel owners.
Over the years, the hotel owners have accumulated a varied collection of antiques, some of which influenced the concept and are displayed around the hotel. The Art nouveau style antique cash register was the inspiration for the staircase and bar designs. The bar itself is custom designed and was handcrafted from solid wood and the marble worktop and brass features are symbolic of the era.
Probably the most eyecatching feature of this project is the specially designed central staircase which was hand crafted with such care as is required in sculpting. The bannisters were designed to resemble climbers and are worked from interturning metal tubes.
Using objects and various items of furniture from different eras has added an acclectic touch to the concept. Similarly, the hotel: 12 rooms, have all been individually styled using different fabrics, wall textures and furniture.
