We meet in the kitchen for communication and therapy, tolaugh and to cry, to celebrate occasions large and small. At the same time though, we may need time to withdraw,to be quiet and to concentrate. The arrangement of thisthree floor house, located on a slope, meets these contradictoryrequirements very well. The kitchen and dining areaquite befit the various activities in the space provided. It isof equal importance in the “hierarchy” of the house to theseparate living room. The staircase provides the break. Alarge terrace with a covered sitting area is adjacent to thedining table. Large sliding doors with a picture window atan angle to the living room offer protection from the weatherand bring interior and exterior visually together. Thearchitectural language is timeless and classic. The actualhouse, a white two floor cube, sits on a clearly definedplinth with garage, granny flat and main entrance, a solutionreflecting the topography of the building. In the interior, the cream coloured walls unite the light seamless terrazzofloor, mixed specially for this project, with the woodenkitchen fronts and the terrace floor, to create an overallwarm friendly atmosphere.
