The site of this project is placed by the foot of a forest mountain by Khaoyai National park. The new coffee shop space functions as a main refreshing spots for the Secret Art Garden and Galleries that created by client’s father a well known Watercolour Artist. As a new Generation, The Client has something to prove to his father, that he will be the next caretaker of this manmade forest. Therefore to represent the boldness and permanentness, Concrete is selected as the main material of this project. Which also suitable fo the weather conditions at the site that will experiences heavy monsoon rain annually that brings muddy water directly to the building.
The Space is imagined as a simple concrete volume the has been functionally subtracted to create all concrete working counter, 4 columns, Bar, Outdoor Bench and Sink.
The texture and vertical pattern on the concrete was created by the spacing between each pieces of wood. The Vertical patterns appear and disappear according to the conditions of sunlight through out the days which naturally animates this piece of small architecture. Blending the building to the vertical lines of the trees.
The glass and concrete volume with transparent skylight allow the visitors to truly connects with the surrounding natural elements as much as possible. A glass shelter in the day and becomes a lantern inside the dark forest at night
Roof water drainage pipes are seamlessly combined with the structural concrete columns. At the back of the coffee shop a concrete volume is also subtracted to provide a space for AC Compressor unit
