This spring Dreem participated in an invited competition for Klövern and the City of Stockholm. The results were announced this week and Dreem Architects proposal along with ÅWL’s proposal were chosen as joint winners. Both offices will proceed with the design of a new large scale, mixed use development in central Kista. The development will consist of three integrated city blocks combining residential, commercial and much needed active public spaces. This will create a new residential landmark in one of Europe’s biggest I.C.T. clusters.
From the Jury’s review “Dreems submission showed that Dreem had developed a clear international proposal, that contributes to Kista's vision of a diverse city. A strong concept with an urban design which reinforces the vision of the ‘future city’ we would like to create in Kista. Comprising three modern designed residential neighborhoods with active ground floors each with their own distinct identities. Dynamically creating residences benefiting from heights in an interesting way.”
Dreems founder and CEO Maya Iwdal comments on the proposal "M3": "We are proud to have the confidence to continue developing Kista. We wanted to create blocks of an international nature, blocks ‘Micro’, ‘Meso’ and ‘Macro’ represent the different social organisation levels and territorial scales. Which together make our project unique. To consolidate Kista, Klövern has decided to focus on housing in Kista. Our proposal includes a condominium tower to emphasize this direction."
The Jury has decided that further work on developing a new zoning plan for the blocks; Dalvik, Myvatten and Skaftá (former Isafjordsgade 1) will be made in collaboration with Dreem and ÅWL.
