King’s Cross Roof Garden: An Art Deco terrace above Regent’s canal
Perched snugly at Albert Dock in decadent King’s Cross, this 45 sqm roof garden enjoys an expansive panorama over the London western skyline, with views of BT Tower, St Pancras, The Shard and Kings Concert Hall which is situated at a touching distance right opposite.
Our clients adore a minimalist white interior, and living in an Art Deco building, their penthouse features a sparsely adorned & spaciously laid out indoor design. The roof garden continues this theme in an indoor-outdoor dialogue, with bold white planters & pale sandstone paving.
A Balau hardwood deck, detailed with LED strip lighting contrasts this whiteness, configured in a symmetrical footprint. Low, curved planters flank the sides, planted with upright native Rushes. 2 tapered tree planters in either corner by the canal are a home to Himalayan birch trees. The central pair of huge geometric planters houses culinary herbs, Agapanthus and dainty perennials.
The back terrace is south-facing, therefore featuring Mediterranean flora, with granite paving, Olive trees, Cape daisies and carnations - a reminder of the clients’ home in Barcelona. Furniture, irrigation & lighting make this roof garden a cosy paradise for the clients to read, entertain & relax.
