This bijoux 2 bedroom house with garage and roof terrace was constructed on the site of an old garage in the heart of Kings Cross, close to historic St Pancras and the eurostar terminus.

The house was created by Linda and David Levene of LLI Design at the start of the major Kings Cross redevelopment, before the area became the vibrant place it is today.
The design and materials used in the building were very much informed by the railway heritage of the area, with grey basalt and polished steel giving a nod to the area’s industrial heritage.

The house’s contemporary nature acts as a foil for the 7 story 19th century apartment block next door.

Spacewise it’s something of a tardis with the ground and basement floors extending behind the original brick wall, making it much more spacious than it originally appears.

To maximise light, the open plan living and kitchen area were placed on the first floor with a secluded roof terrace above giving rare and much sort after open space in a gritty urban area.
The two bedrooms, each with en suite shower rooms are situated in the basement, but have the benefit of natural daylight via a small light well.

The other unusual feature of this gem is that it has it’s own garage, a rarity in this part of central London where space is at such a premium. The local planners were able to give permission for this as the site was originally a garage and there had been a vehicle cross over on the site for over 150 years going back to the time when it was a store for animal feed.

All in all this is the perfect lock up and leave London residence for Paris bound commuters.
