The new kindergarten in Kontich is located in the district of Waarloos, which has a typical rural character.

Children often depict a house as a façade with a pointed roof, a window and a door. This typical image was used as the basis for the new building. The basic idea of the design consists of a "house for every social group." In concrete terms, this translates into the merging of three volumes with a gable. Apart from the very obvious icon of "home," this concept has the advantage that it can be worked on a building that is somewhat fragmented.

We searched for a design that, despite the hefty list of requirements, integrated the best of the site, which is in harmony with the rural character of the place. The rising roofs will be run as extensive green roofs in both scenic and ecological consideration.
