This youth center, built in the 1980's, was neglected by the teenagers over the years after it did not keep up with the changes happening in our world, both physical and digital. The renovation called for re-thinking the concept of the center.
The idea of the "classroom" as a space which concentrated students sitting in front of tables and a teacher was eliminated . Instead, an alternative definition of spaces was proposed. The proposed "network" model defines each space according to its characteristics - acoustics, durability, media etc. and fits many forms of learning. This flexible model allows a variety of interaction modes between youth and their instructors.
The different spaces include: media room, group work rooms, workshop, scalable lecture hall, acoustic room and private rooms.
These settings enable the youth center's management to restore the attractiveness of the center in the eyes of teenagers.
