Coney Island, once America's premier amusement park, took advantage of a
unique opportunity to rejuvenate itself with the construction of
KeySpan Park Stadium (now known as MCU Park) on the site of the former
Steeplechase Amusement Park, adjacent to the landmark Parachute Jump.
JLGA designed the stadium for the Brooklyn Cyclones, a Minor League
Baseball team affiliated with the New York Mets. The 7,500-seat
stadium, completed in time for the 2001 baseball season, includes luxury
suites, food services, restroom facilities and retail concessions.
This state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue recalls Coney
Island's rich cultural past and points to new commercial development
possibilities in the future.
