This project sits on a hillside that slopes down towards Kellogg Pond; a wooded setting that attracts ducks and wildlife year round.
The design is for an addition to a small existing home, and needed to consider the tight parameters for the environmentally protected pond and waterways in maintaining a compact footprint with minimal impacts to the site. The new work emphasizes a strong visual connection between the living areas and the private, wooded site, while providing a maximum of natural and balanced daylighting, and generous outdoor ‘room-sized’ decks towards the pond frontage.
To integrate the existing residence and the addition, upgrades at the home include new window and skylight openings, new roofing and exterior paint. The exterior improvements also included replacing and extending outdoor decks and walkways.
