ESHA were commissioned by Lord Yarborough in the Summer of 2004 to prepare a design for part of his estate on the fringes of the North Lincolnshire village of Keelby. The centre of the village is full of character and the design is based on this precedent. The composition consists of a pattern of fairly narrow streets meeting in two squares, one rectangular and the other triangular. An existing stream forms the focus of the public open space. The layout links the new development back to the village street while carefully avoiding building on an area of archaeological interest. The simple 2 and 3 storey houses linked together by two metre walls reflect the horizontal emphasis of the flat, open Lincolnshire landscape.
