The KBK Arte Contemporaneo is a Mexico City based art gallery located in the new anzures district, considered as the new district for the arts, since the new Jumex Museum is now under construction by architect David Chipperfield. This project is place inside an old bread factory. The goal was to clean the only big gallery space by demolishing a series of constructions that have been adding up over the years. The result is one rectangle shaped space of two heights that help to receive natural lighting inside the space. Surrounding it, there are spaces for the administration of the gallery as well as a small library. The building looks exactly the same as when it was a bread factory, although has certain twists that deny its past: objects and sculptures are placed outside and no delicious smell comes out of it anymore.
By the way, at the time I took the pictures, Mexican Artist Ale de la Puente had a show about an instalation and a series of photos. Reminded me after party casualties....
