Maintaining consistency with the latest shift towards a holistic focus in healthcare, the Kaplan Pavilion was designed to promote wellness and eco-consciousness in every facet. From structural features, like the building's openness to the north—preventing excessive heat exposure—to low-emissivity glass, high-efficiency HVAC, filtration, and plumbing systems, the Pavilion placed wellness and environment at the forefront.
As the project MEP Engineer, California Energy Designs worked closely with the project lead & architecture firm, Belzberg Architects, to design innovative energy and resource systems for the facility. The end result was a LEED Platinum-Certified facility that achieved substantial energy & resource savings, while offering an uncompromising level of excellence in physical environment for both staff & visitors.
