Description: This project is located in Kamyaran city in Kurdistan province which is one of the western border provinces of Iran, in addition, one of the most important transit borders of Iran. The residents of Kamyaran are Kurds. Noticeably the majority of their income is from the transit of products across the common border with Iraq and Turkey. Locals have a different culture and lifestyle with residents of other cities in Iran. Furthermore, this city is located in a district which is deprived of modern facilities areas. Our studio was faced two general subjects, following the earthquake in the province, in cooperation with the "Kurdistan Provincial Recreation Organization", aimed at improving the level of social relations of the residents and ameliorating their moral: 1. Designing an elementary school 2. Designing a space for people to socialize with each other and where important urban events take place. Our studio has achieved the important thing in the face of these two issues, that instead of designing two different projects on two separate sites, according to the city dwellers behavior in this district, it could be possible to merge these two, and with the combining them they will become a reason for developing each other. In addition, it would be possible to propound a new concept of school-to-city or city-to-school communication. In the first half of the day (morning to noon) the project independently plays the role of a school, with a courtyard (which is located in the middle of building) and it is a playground for students and separated from the city by a threshold. In the second half of the day the courtyard is a space for meetings of local leaders or ceremonies and even a public park and is open to the city. We have done the project layout in such a way that as we move from the end of the project to the adjacent wall, the uses turn from educational to the public. The theoretical and practical classroom is located at the end of the site, then the middle uses which are Acting as interims, it includes a lab, workshops and libraries and a computer site, and eventually public spaces such as the amphitheater and gym. This kind of approachment, not only has reduced the costs and less land used due to the region but also has transformed the project from a temporary function which is active only half a day to a vibrant, dynamic urban space full of activity and movement all day.
