1. prize - 2004The urban plan for Kalvebod Wharf proposes a robust, long-term framework for the phased development of the rail yard into residences, businesses and institutions, including the National Archive storage building.The strategy is characterized by a topographically varied park landscape, elevated 7 meters over the surrounding terrain and extending the length of the site.The new buildings along the edges are solitary, freely-formed volumes that frame and reinforce the sightlines of the urban quarter, taking advantage of views to the city and harbour.The area underneath the park landscape is utilized for parking, storage, and mechanical services.The urban plan establishes the framework for the City of Copenhagens district plan 401 ‘National Archive.
