The first step to rethink the outer facade of the Pushkin
Cinema was to deeply observe the urban landscape of Moscow and to understand
its historic and contemporary urban fabric.
A patchwork of
architectonical languages finds its place in the city enhancing few buildings as
strongly identifiable objects: its easy to understand that the uniqueness of these architectonical creations
stays in their figurative aspect.
For this reason a
strong figurative language is our strategy to give a new look to the cinema
since we want to highlight the social
and cultural role of the building within Moscow’s society improving at the same
time its central importance also in the
future.The great role of
Pushkin cinema has to be translate in an innovative shape that shows a
no-conventional look. The outer façade of the building must be an icon in the city skyline to clearly
point out its significant localization and its function.
Interacting with the
original volume of the building the new skin models its shape as a collection
of geometries floating free in the space and trough the
fragmentation of plans and volumes the façade directly refers to the
Russian avant-garde art.
