BDD is a new cultural paradigm that places contemporary ideas in a constantly moving and evolving time frame that connects the deep history of culture, creativity and geographical maps of architects, designers and artists in the Bintaro region, the presence of activities and works of artists that continuously project into the future.
This building is understood as a curatorial toolbox that supports the juxtaposition of activities and productions in terms of time, geography, scale and media. A unique spatial matrix not limited by disciplinary categories, with a range of sizes that offers unlimited flexibility for all media. The gallery is connected by a super lobby as an extension of the city and its gardens, inviting creative breaks. By combining curatorial experimentation with new educational models, BDD becomes a cultural incubator for Tangerang and Jakarta.
An approach to create a timeless and valuable platform and tool that defines the identity of Bintaro. Guided by the concept of the importance of the village of Baduy. The features belong to cultural identities and traditions that have endured over the years. Along with the infrastructure of the city of Bintaro as a contemporary city. We envision a powerful space for the exhibition and production of architecture, art and design that creates community through meaningful relationships with context, landscape and culture.
The architecture we propose is an institution that becomes a forum for formal and informal activities, both routine and specific, and that takes care to be open. It is bold enough to generate more energy than it consumes. The design of the living space is able to change and respond to different forms of artistic expression. Art grows in every part of the building - from the galleries to the gardens, open terraces and public spaces. The central atrium is the core area and social concept for experimentation, commissions, performances and large-scale artworks. New signature for Bintaro A curatorial space and an art form in continuous composition.
We propose that architecture and art can be seen and enjoyed everywhere, in galleries, in public squares, along walkways and in parks. In general, works of art are noticed and appreciated, which is why galleries are not arranged as isolated boxes, but are intentionally connected to the surrounding nature. The gallery is a series of interlocking squares that point the way to a continuous journey of artistic experimentation with a changing view of reality. Planned and cut, the architecture is transparent and connected to the surroundings - from the gardens to the streets, galleries, trees and sky - forming open paths with different orientations and perceptions. The loose definition of space inspires the informal, everyday, intimate values and experiences of formal and conventional spaces.
