The client wanted to create a setting akin to a luxurious boutique hotel that conveys the intimate character of the ryokans found in Japan. As it is the first Pre-Natal and Post Natal Centre in Singapore, they wanted to ensure that the design embraces the concept of Japanese hospitality, where every detail is designed for and needs of each guests are anticipated to create a once in a lifetime experience.
The brief was to serve 3 functions:
· Luxurious Hotel Suites and Nursery for the Mothers to be
· A professional kitchen for the brand to explore on its F&B concepts
· Bespoke design for the Aesthetic and SPA services catering for the Mothers to be.
The design concept was to showcase the inherent beauty of the materials; where all materials are expressed honestly and come together to redefine luxury. The project showcases and overall colour palette of the existing materials with neutral greys and metallic accents to give a sense of refinement.
Level 1:
We washed and made good the existing red brick wall such that they would be exposed within the interior spaces. The floor is Terrazzo which is similar to the original floor material complemented with a light oak Laminate.. Bronze metal accents are incorporated within the interior spaces.
Medical Suites and SPA:
Grey / Metallic Grey Wallpaper and Armourcoat finish to showcase the curves along the walls with black metal accents.
Level 2:
Hotel Rooms: Timber Vinyl flooring with Dark Timber Laminate with Plush Velvet upholstered seats and brass accent features.
Nursery: Usage of A Japanese shirasu based interior wall plaster product where it purifies the indoor air, creating a comfortable, worry-free environment for the Babies.
