Beyond its medical capabilities, the architectural design of Kahramanmaraş HG Hospital employs a blend of visually appealing and functional design through the use of efficient planning and wayfinding, sophisticated interiors with careful detailing, and strategic use of biophilic principles for promoting comfort for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
Efficiency is key in the hospital's design, with all spaces adhering to a simple layout, ensuring that navigation is intuitive and stress-free. Moreover, wayfinding is made seamless with brightly colored signage that is color-coded and legible.
The common spaces within the hospital include other amenities such as clothing stores, salons, bakeries and cafeterias, breaking away from the monotony often associated with healthcare environments. A vibrant color palette that combines artwork, greenery and natural lighting is used strategically to uplift the spirits of patients, visitors, and staff, transforming the atmosphere into one that is positive and welcoming. The design further emphasizes the integration of natural elements throughout the hospital. Small plants adorn various spaces, and throughout all the hallways alcoves within walls are ingeniously designed to house vegetation and natural earth. Ample daylighting through the strategic placement of windows provides sweeping views of the surroundings, further emphasizing the connection to nature.
Boasting a bed capacity of 280, the spacious patient rooms are each designed for comfort and privacy, offering a home away from home for patients on their road to recovery. Materials selected for the interiors place a dual emphasis on appearance and hygiene that is instrumental for optimal patient care. High-end materials are used extensively, not only providing an opulent aesthetic but also ensuring surfaces are easy to clean, promoting a sanitary environment for all patients.
