Assos, a district where nature and history are intertwined, is a fascinating place with its unique historical texture and stone houses. The houses in this region have been made of andesite stone from the region for centuries. Andesite stone is a special stone with its color and solid structure. The vernacular architecture with the andesite stone on the steep slopes of Assos combine with the green and form the spirit of the region.
For us, the main goal of this project is to protect this spirit and to add something new without destroying the existing texture of the environment. The hotel was designed with small units hidden in the green. Units have different orientations, so Midilli Island and Ayvalık can be seen in all units.
The large green terrace on the ground floor of the hotel offers guests a large area to enjoy the view, eat, and relax. The green terrace is connected to different levels by stone stairs. There is a pool downstairs like a spa, and the gardens with organic farming are located on the upper level.
The hotel is designed as a small village with its fragmented architecture, central courtyard, large green terrace, staircases connecting different levels and garden. The hotel, which has an architecture in harmony with the existing environment, is also an environment-friendly structure with its use of the stone to be released on-site, its large green terrace, and its design that enables the reuse of rainwater.
