KABIN, a dynamic minimalist architectural design and construction group in Montreal, proudly announced today the opening of its alpine project; the first micro-chalet resort to hit the Eastern Townships touristic region.
Located at the base of the Mont-Sutton ski hill and adjacent the Natural Environment Park of Sutton, Kabin Sutton Resort houses a series of mini-chalets, known as SHAKS, targeting modern owners who are looking for a secondary residence to escape to nature, with an added turnkey rental solution for their investment.
KABIN’s owners and designers Martin Delisle and Sylvain Bélanger maintain the base concept of minimalist architecture by focusing on the connection between two perfect planes, in this case, Nature + Architecture.
“Each natural environment selected is an exciting and creative opportunity for us to marry design with nature.” says KABIN. “We set out to create a dialogue of sorts, between the most essential materials for the construction and the natural environment.”
KABIN’s design and carefully selected materials bring new approaches with regards to interior and exterior development. From strategically placed windows taking full advantage of natural lighting, to custom design cabinets and modular furniture — Kabin Sutton Resort seemingly breaks down the walls that separate nature and indoor living.
Whether it be erecting SHAKs on piles (stilts) to better harmonize with uneven terrain, helping surrounding trees to continue to grow through beautifully designed tree holes in scenic terraces, recycling the few surrounding trees (that were essential to cut) into beautiful dining and end tables, or building natural stone steps leading to a discreet entry — each SHAK is perfectly optimized to provide a relaxing, functional, and affordable experience.
The airy 550 s.f. SHAK for 2 guests (possible to sleep 4) features a king-sized bed, a private terrace with a sunk-in hot tub, glass-enclosed rain shower, full kitchen, and a comfortable seating area with a wood-burning fireplace.
Phase l of Kabin Sutton Resort includes three private SHAKs and were sold in less than a week.
The reaction has been exceptional. Renting started immediately upon delivery in December and all SHAKS are booked every weekend for the next several months. The comments from guests have been all very positive and the rental revenue makes for happy owners; seeing an immediate profitable investment.
Phase ll development of Kabin Sutton Resort is targeted to begin in Spring 2016 and will include four SHAKS, making a total of seven SHAKS across both phases. SHAKS are being bought up quickly, with only one unit left available.
