Henning Larsen has designed a new headquarters for KAB, an organization that builds, rents and manages social and communal housing for Copenhagen and the greater Copenhagen area. This new headquarters will form the framework for a healthy workplace, centered around the community. The architectural idea surrounding KAB Headquarters includes a functional and high-quality building with great aesthetic value consisting of selective material choices and sustainable, technically-sound solutions. The framework of KAB’s current headquarters no longer supports cross-disciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and openness for their 350 employees. Henning Larsen has won the task of creating a unique office space in the city that meets these needs. The design process for the office space consisted of a collaborative and transparent process between Henning Larsen, the client, and the end users, facilitated through many user and stakeholder engagement workshops. Beginning with a defined GFA, through workshops Henning Larsen was able to maximize the flexiblility of the program to suit the unique needs of the tenants. The KAB Headquarters will connect a number of important neighborhoods, acting as a link between the old, densely populated areas; Valby, Vesterbro, Sydhavnen and the new Carlsberg town. The project is divided into five phases and includes a total of 7,400 m² of new construction, in which 360 permanent and 40 flexible workplaces will be established. The building is being built on Enghavevej in Copenhagen on a plot located in the intersection between the city and the railway.
