Located at the center of Hung Phu new urban area in Can Tho City, Vietnam nearby the tranquil Mekong river, K-Villa+ is designed with the tropical style, maximizing the open space to gain the harmony with nature, applying the green solution in design to enhance the bio-climatic comfort, the healthy and respecting the sustainable and eco friendly factors.
GREEN BUILDING
Sustainable site:
The project is located in a new established residential area, complete infrastructure, closed to shopping malls, services, local transportation…
With the low building density less than 15%, the effort of prioritizing for green space, water surface, rainwater-absorbing surface, green roof…has reduced the urban heat island effect.
The garden has been created by local trees: milk fruit, mango, rambutan, palm, bougainvillea, plumeria…, an ecological fish pond with aquatic plants as lotus, water lily, centella,…
Natural ventilation:
With the natural circulating air of the typical monsoon from South East and South West of Mekong Delta area, K-Villa+ has been designed with open spaces, breeze blocks walls, appropriate layout of doors in order to gain and maximize the convectional air flow and bring the natural cool air to inside the building.
Natural lighting and visual comfort:
With full of light source from the tropical sun, the architect has brought the natural light system solution to the project: indoor garden, skylight, larger windows… in order to use mostly natural light for daytime. All living space’s light level have adapted the Vietnam lighting standard.
The above solution combining with natural light has brought to members of family could easily see each other and enjoy the natural beauty of garden surrounding.
In addition, the arrangement of lights used at night has been optimally designed, the type of light is LED or light sun energy for landscape and use automatic lighting system, to ensure that the lighting energy reaches the permitted level of energy-saving design systems.
Water Efficiency:
The project is designed based on reduce outdoor water consumption by reusing rain water to irrigate plants, addition to ecological pond also contributes to reducing standing water naturally. The landscape of using grasscrete brick with the same purpose of reducing concrete surface increases natural plant composition and helps to best drain rainwater. In the future, the owner can use the system to reuse rainwater into a source of pure drinking water.
Eco-friendly materials:
The project has used eco-friendly materials as un-baked brick for wall partition, grasscrete block for the garden, weather (corten) steel for fence and double-skin facade. The house’s floor has used natural wood from the certified sustainable sources and these walls has been painted by non-VOC to avoid the harmful agent emission.
Using the effective and economic energy:
The synchronous use applied from air circulation, natural lighting system, heat reducing solution (green roof, hollow brick floor), plants, tree and water surface, double skin façade for ventilation and solar shading, low-E two layers glasses to cover from the West sunlight has allowed the house to maintain the effective and economic purpose of artificial power’s use.
Effective building management:
During the construction phase, the project has been managed based on Lotus Homes Standard, minimizing noise, classifying and recycling waste.
Community connectivity of the project:
A 6m wide and 50m long road has been made (meanwhile reducing the living area) to create a connection for local people for accessing to green park. This road could be used for other community activities as walking, exercising, taking photos… for local people.
