The Juravinski Hospital campus, a member of the 980-bed Hamilton Health Sciences Network, consists of 13 buildings and 2 parking structures, compromising a total of roughly 400,000 sf GFA of new construction and 25,000 sf GFA of renovation. The new facilities include an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Operating Rooms, Critical Care Areas, Impatient Units and Day Hospital to name a few of the departments affected. This massive shift towards ambulatory services will involve a reduction in beds at JH from 277 to 254 simultaneously with this major expansion. JH supports the Oncology program at the adjacent Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre via physical links and sharing of resources. Zeidler’s innovative yet practical thinking and understanding of operational issues led to major revisions to Juravinski’s previously developed Master Plan.
