In the rolling hills of Valle d’Itria, among olive trees and dry stone walls, according to Apulian tradition, pure and white volumes lay down on the ground.
The pure lines of the building dialogue with the curves of the land through the rock that from dry stone wall becomes a volume. The overlooking white volume looks like it is not touching the ground. This suspension is emphasized by the reduced dimensions in plan of the basement if compared to the upper floors.
This is like designing the landscape and enriching it with contemporary elements, strongly connected to the territory through the use of colors and local materials.
The project intends to operate using the typical and basic elements of local architecture: dry stone wall, pure volumes characterized by little openings and the light, suggesting compact buildings structured by the interconnection of solar chimneys that filter and bring indirect light to the interior.
The project refers to three multi-family duplex buildings with attached basement for parking. There are also two existing buildings to be restored.
