Fundamentally this project addresses the overlap of two cultures (Colombia & USA), the spirit of Juan Valdez vs. the generation X consumers, and nature vs. technology. Architecturally the street facade becomes the "LINK" with a stainless steel screen stretched along the entire building and an abstract watermark image of Juan Valdez etched on it. The Storefront becomes a "FOLDED PLANE," inspired by the shape of a coffee bean, and a "LIQUID WALL" continues along the entire length of the space and wraps around the lounge area at the end.
