This is our entry to Johor Bahru - Singapore RTS Station Facade Design Competition in 2021. Located at Johor Bahru, the southern gateway of Peninsular Malaysia, the station, to be intergrated with a new customs complex, projects the identity of the Johor state of Malaysia via its rich socio-economical, cultural & natural green heritage, creating a gateway for users to have an experiential brief introduction of Johor under one roof, and at the same time provide an innovative facade that penetradable by shaded, filtered & reflected day light and cross air, but still protected from tropical weather.
The design features:
1. Rumah Limas Johor (Johor traditional house) inspired skylight & sun-shading panels,
2. Kain Tenun Johor (Johor traditional woven textile) inspired Ceiling,
3. an eclectic mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Javanese, Bugis, Arabic, British communities inspired pattern on metal sun-shading lattices,
4. Johor Endau-Rompin National Park inspired hanging forest.
The hanging forest above the platforms will be the centre piece of the station and at the same time contributes a liite green footprint in the city.
