The space designed for the international concept JLM, based its proposal on the transformation of a small space of 80sqm located in a shopping mall in the city of Maracaibo.
The main challenge was structured on obtaining in an extremely reduced space, the perception of “enclosures” that, even though they don’t divide the space, they permit the experience of independent eating areas that work in favor of a “domesticity” and controlled “privacy”.
Due to its disposition, these areas resulting from two brick crosses, structure a visual perspective in conjunction to the optical effect of the classic three-dimensional floor tiles that become a carpet, create the perceptual effect of amplitude and extension.
Eight lamps of chromatic saturation accompany each space, defining the scale and the domesticity of the private space, with a graphical intervention on the wall that acts as the continuation of the floor plan, extending vertically the effect of a horizontal surface, eliminating the perception of limits and spaces.
An austere and simple proposal with a high expressive content and great local presence resume the result of the image of JLM Maracaibo. The search for a global typology and the care taken in the development of the design of restaurants as a mean to generate an integrated experience where the Brand’s image, the gastronomical proposal and the perfect environment for the waiting diner all dialogue, all planned within the proposal.
