Since their establishment in 1975 John Hardy has grown exponentially, from a founder who sculpted the company’s rich tradition of Balinese handcrafted jewelry, to the new owners who have devoted their mission to sharpening the brands identity. An identity that would be recognized as one of the most desirable artisan-crafted luxury jewelry brands in the world. John hardy has set themselves apart from the competitors by mastering an authentic differentiated brand with iconic, distinctive, and recognizable product collections. The brand heritage became a key driver in the design narrative. They were moving from the 19th floor of The Starrett Lehigh building into a newly renovated space 13 stories up with 360 degree views. John hardy needed a new office and showroom space that would immerse them in their strongest brand pillars which are powerful, dramatic and inspiring.
To be powerful ; The design of the showroom needed to capture the emotion of the place and the humanity of the artist. To be dramatic ; The oversized hand carved black walnut tables embody the sense of community and togetherness that is well respected at the jewelry making compound in Bali. Selections of textured wood, oil rubbed metal and hammered metal techniques celebrate the true craftsmanship and attention to detail John Hardy jewelry is recognized for. To be inspiring; the design carries the symbolism and mythical stories that are told through his jewelry and expressed in the attention of architectural details. Custom metal inlays refract light as if it is reflecting off water, intricate suspension systems of the hanging vitrines frame Hudson River views and capture a picturesque window to the outside. Museum like display cases in the elevator lobby contain original craftsman’s tools, and drawings that tell the story of wearable art and transmit powerful, dramatic and inspiring energy into the space.
