Two hours drive, north, from Mexico City this bungalow was designed to relax from the stressing city life. A minimum of elements are incorporated to a sober design.
A play with concrete planes, texture, colours and a structural “U” crystal cube are done to gain the maximum view of the site. Within this massive box stands out a translucent box of the bathroom that lights up in the night to emphasise the view towards the mountains. Since all structure is made with low carbon concrete, we have experiment with the idea of “Colour Contrast Limits”, and “Boolean Operations”. Kitchen appliances are run with methane discharges production and temperature control is achieved by a geothermal pipe that runs thru the ground connecting directly into the concrete shell.
C02 footprint is calculated to be about 1 ton during production time and 400 kilograms per year.
