The project
is a work and exhibition center for young designers living and working in
Jerusalem. The design had a few objectives: The first was to plan for as many
design spaces as possible while at the same time providing a unique and
individual feel for each studio. Another goal was to allow maximum visibility
of each designer while maintaining privacy and versatile work possibilities for
each of the spaces. it was important to emphasize that the materiality of the
space was that of a place of creation and not offices.
The studios' walls
were planned so that each one faces the central public space at an angle,
oriented towards the circulation and direction of movement in the space.
Additionally, each studio was given its own box-like display window in which
designers can exhibit and sell the work created in their studio. The walls of
the central public space were clad with rough wood and the floor covered in
rubber in order to allow for both clean and industrial work to exist in the
space.
