The project is a rehabilitation project of the railroad and memorial park in Gjøvik. The whole park has been rehabilitated to a activity park with one of the most advanced skate arenas in Norway. KONTUR was in charge of project management for the rehabilitation of the park and collaborated closely with the Norwegian landscape architects IN`BY, who where in charge of the design and layout of the activity park.
Along with the role of project manager KONTUR also designed and engineered the sail construction above the stage within the park. The stage facing the central pedestrian street in downtown Gjøvik has become the stage for public events in the city.
The project has brought life back to downtown Gjøvik. The younger generation are actively socializing and engaging in sports activities in the town centre, which for years has been less and less used by the public. The skate park was so popular that the Norwegian skateboard championship was moved to Gjøvik and held in the park, before completion of the project.
