Lead8 has delivered the interior design for the JC Plaza, an adaptive reuse project set in the central area of Nanjing Road within the Jing’an District of Shanghai. The adapted scheme features a 20,000 sqm retail centre integrated with a 35,000 sqm office tower.
Through Lead8’s innovative design and craftsmanship, the former single-use hotel development has been transformed into a mixed-use high-end office and commercial space.
Jing’an District is one of the most important clusters of economic and cultural activity in Shanghai. The site of the project was originally the prestigious and monumental Cangzhou Hotel, later refurbished to the 5-star JC Mandarin Hotel, and today, the JC Plaza mixed-use development. The completed scheme brings together four basement car park levels, five above-ground retail levels, and 21 storeys of commercial space.
JC Plaza was delivered with elegance and luxury in mind. The interior design is refined, described as stylish yet minimal and with a high intrinsic value. Lead8 celebrated the beauty and texture of materials to create the perfect complement for the space, allowing individual shops in the shopping centre to come to life with their own value and uniqueness. The exclusive style offers different themes and experiences for visitors, and blurs the lines between the shops and the commercial space.
Within the office interior design, high technology is coupled with a forward-thinking and inspiring concept. The method uses clean, straight lines and sharp angles to resonate with the bold yet simple building façade.
