The resulting volumetry of the building is a consequence of a desire: that its site plan provide a ample space in its main access, trought a huge and unique reception plaza. In addition to that, the building is stoned by its facades, where distinct openings have different aesthetic finishing in order to provide a more efficient building. In that matter openings oriented to the sunshine and to the sunset (east and west facades), that always suffers with sun light, were minimized; where the height is 1,40 meters – half of its floor. The openings oriented to north receives direct sun light during all day, in a lower intensity, and for this reason it was covered with brise-soleils that allows the facade to be a curtain wall.
The project development was conducted to target ambiental sustainability in the enterprise. Measures were taken in order to assure the best energetic efficiency and natural resources savings, such as: sun incidence control; reflection mechanisms of the natural light for the internal environment aiming economy of artificial light; air conditioning systems splited into sectors and individualized; rain water re-use.
All of this characteristics added of several other, assured the project in the LEED GOLD certification parameters , ensuring Jatoba Green Building as a leading project in commercial building’s scenario in Brazil. Recently, the project won the 2010 Asbea Prize (Brazilian Association of Architecture Offices) , in the commercial and services sector.
