Baskervill worked alongside Riverstone Properties on an extensive renovation and revisioning of the James Center office and retail complex in downtown Richmond. The team, which also includes Hourigan Construction, repositioned the complex’s three Class A buildings—constructed in the 1980s—into modern work environments. Renovations included updates to the building’s architectural finishes; improved connection and circulation between the office, retail, and parking areas; full modernization of the property’s 33 elevators; and the incorporation of additional amenities, including a large conference center that can be used by tenants and their guests. Featuring clean lines and a sophisticated neutral palette, the design pulls inspiration from the nearby James River and State Capitol.
