Sustainability and the reuse of existing structures are the focal points of our design concept. One of the guiding principles is the preservation of all existing sports infrastructures. Our design is essentially based on the current basic structure, which is strongly determined by the existing pathways, entrances, areas to be preserved, existing trees and buildings. The new uses, organised in compact structures, are grouped around a central square at the heart of the site, which becomes the hub of the sports park. The new stadium takes up the axis of the Max Schmeling Hall to create an overall ensemble. It moves closer to Eberswalder Straße, becomes more visible in the urban space and thus creates a strong new address. In addition to the stadium, the concept includes two other efficiently organised halls and functional buildings with active roof use in the form of sports facilities. Our design is a beacon project for inclusion, participation and equality, which includes the large stadium as well as the sports park as a whole.
In addition to the inclusion requirements, all the buildings are also designed to meet further demands in terms of climate protection and adaptation, the use of resources, energy supply, animal-aided design and the materials used.
