For Phase 1, Moody Nolan designed this new 210,000 sq. ft., $56 million senior high school
to educate students in four Career and Technical Education Areas (CTEs). These include
transportation: logistics/maritime, graphic design and production; arts: AV – production and
arch/construction; and finally, health science. Specific spaces such as the learning commons/
information center storage were designed to benefit the larger community. Each area of the
school was designed for flexibility and to encourage students to think about real-world topics
creatively and critically. The school includes a large auditorium that can be configured into
smaller multipurpose spaces. The Educational classrooms or “Academic Neighborhoods” are
designed to support each of the four CTEs, which will help collaboration with industry-leading
companies, organizations, and the development of future relationships with the University of
Houston and Texas Southern University, located directly to the east and west.
For Phase 2, the south portion of the site was developed with a new standalone batting cage,
practice baseball and softball fields, each with corresponding dugouts & bleachers. New
competition-ready tennis courts and a newly resurfaced track, with long jump and triple jump
runways and pits were installed. Moody Nolan reconditioned the existing practice football field
to accommodate considerable site drainage and field surface care within the track boundary.
Finally, a new vehicular passenger drop-off lanes, site circulation, multiple parking areas, and site
detention were added to complete the site.
