The transformation of the original Howard Johnsons into a modernist, industrial aesthetic inspired us. We wanted to continue the use of simple modern materials, like the exposed concrete and steel, and contrast that with warm residential elements to create a modern Greenwich home.
The interior shell of the lobby was conceived as a clean white, almost gallery like space. Floors are concrete and wood, walls and ceilings are white and the view is focused out through the expansive glass wall out onto the garden.
When one enters the lobby they walk through a double height space which is light and bright and features a sculptural check in desk that is itself a piece of art, sculpted out of polished stainless steel. The lounge area of the lobby is conceived as a modern Greenwich living room. It features an eclectic mix of furnishings that layer texture and subtle colors in sophisticated way. The room is divided into 3 sitting areas and includes a large library and free floating steel fireplace. This room will also feature video and local art hung salon style throughout the space and connect to the outdoor living room via a wall of glass.
