Houses in the Sudetes - the Izera Mountains.
A plot beside a former slate quarry.
The neighboring quarry filled with rust-colored pools.Iron precipitated from the slate, embedded in the ground, oxidizing into shades of rust after rainfall...Rust becomes the project’s guiding material: weathered steel used for pathways, façades, and roofing across a cluster of five holiday houses.
Set into a steep slope, the houses are compact and efficient, designed on a square plan. Each features entrance and viewing terraces, drawing in and feeding on the surrounding landscape.
