Based on the concept of an ancient Maya goddess, the goddess of the earth & moon, protector of the sea, goddess of fertility comes the Latin American restaurant of Izel. The ancient cultures of the Maya and Aztec still captivate imagination & wonder. With this the designers delved into the passion of Latin America- erotic, mystical & sensual, from the music, the arts, dance & food, the passions of South America create this moody, sultry interior experience, a tribute to the Goddess Izel. The diversity is reflected throughout the venue.
The interiors are dominated by gold, black marbles & dark woods. The spectacular noir clad marble fire with large Aztec stone calendar dedicated to the sun goddess, reflects the Aztecs' understanding of time & space, inspired by the fire temples & sacred places. The fire gives one a sense of what the atmosphere must have felt like in the temples.
Feature walls with Maya hieroglyphics in gold leaf indirectly illuminated set the tone for the mysterious. Whilst the entry walls exhibit fragments of a poem about the Goddess Izel which shares glimpses of her mystery.
Sculptures & object d'art were re created according to their archetypes & depict the gods & deities of this ancient civilization.
Spanish inspired lace & mantillas a seen in the detailing of the concrete screens at the bar, domed ceiling light features & fabric patterns where used to layer the concept & introduce the European influence to South America. The lace & mantillas bring the essence of femininity, whilst large original portraits commissioned by a local South American artist command your attention.
The bar front with lace sandwiched between glass panels & back lit, dark timber floors & metallic leather dining chairs add sophistication & refinement.
But what would a Latino inspired restaurant be without cigars? The cigar lounge with temperature controlled humidor have their cigars displayed in blonde timber & veneer showcases, a wondrous selection of the finest cigars, a tradition & passion.
The show kitchen displays the essence of fire with a golden atmosphere, the exhaust hood in brass over the show cooking barbeque provides an interactive chef guest experience. Food too is unmistakably one of the many passions of South America.
Lastly but by no means least comes the passion of dance & music. Salsa, tango & flamenco guitars require no introduction & performances will have guests entertained, tantalizing the 5 senses. The designers created a fully working stage for live performances with a "green" room for artists.
Izel combines the mystery of the ancient civilization paying tribute to the Goddess of Izel, with Spanish influences, South American passion for food, music, arts, cigars create a truly exceptional dining experience that will take you into the heart of South America.
