The most progressive and largest eye clinic in Slovakia, IVIO CLINIC was established in Trnava at a time of a shortage of quality medical facilities and as a response to their often utilitarian or even inappropriate design and functional solutions.
Just as the investor placed high demands on its medical equipment, quality doctors, and microsurgeons, it also placed them on the interior design, be it in functional relationships, spatial layout, or in the design of materials and elements. The specificity of the design of medical facilities lies in the very strict medical, logistical, hygienic, and technical limits that are required by legislation and by specialists in the field of ophthalmology themselves.
Two floors of 600 square metres each provide operating and examination rooms, as well as comfortable facilities for 30 employees, waiting areas for 80 clients, an ophthalmic optician's, and extensive HVAC facilities.
On the ground floor, there is a larger capacity area for surgical procedures. At the core are two operating rooms in a separate clean zone. Its outer part consists of five examination rooms, an outpatient department, and a waiting room. Another special zone here houses one of Europe's few eye tissue banks in Europe.
Upstairs, there is a more intimate area with a laser operating room and adjoining examination rooms, an outpatient department, and a plastic surgery treatment room. A separate section for ophthalmologist training and a unique WETLAB training centre are also located upstairs. The rest of the floor consists of the clinic's staff and administration areas.
A number of functional details have also been thought of, such as waste management, integrated hygiene accessories, elements for small refreshments in the furniture, and a clear graphic information system.
The material solution corresponds to the overall level of the clinic. The walls are clad in marble in combination with compact full-wall furniture sets. The floor is made of a monolithic lacquered cement covering. The ceilings are assembled from Armstrong acoustic tiles with Trox system outlets and XAL lighting units. Counters and sinks are made of Corian and Kerrock stone composites. The doors have integrated Dorsis frames. Andrew World sofas in Silvertex finish for perfect hygienic cleaning, greenery, and Vibia lighting units with integrated greenery complete the atmosphere of quality and long-lasting functionality of the interior. The chosen colour scheme in shades of beige, marble, and fine wood grain, along with living elements, creates a relaxing feeling during a visit to the healthcare facility.
