Nestled in the hub of Melbourne's CBD, Istana is a modest apartment located within a 24 storey multi-residential building. With various properties throughout the globe, the client formulated the brief; "surprise me". Tired of seeing the expected, this brief had an open scope of works, giving the designers the freedom to explore the most appropriate theme. Previous homes of the client have had the same appearance and finishes. Wanting to see something that fulfils the client's sense of travel, an Australian focused concept was formulated in response to his desires.
In collaboration with experts in their field, Istana is a reflection of careful thought and consideration to the end use of the apartment. With combined knowledge from an interior designer, architect and project manager, the apartment achieves the intricate balance between design and functionality.
A strong emphasis on modern Australian design is applied throughout. Bespoke pieces of furniture and soft finishes have been selected from well known Australian designers and each piece of art hung upon the walls have been produced by Australia's finest. With everything Australian owned and made, Istana is a true reflection of the spirit of Australia. A strategic use of striking color is used to offset the simple, clean lines of the building. This bold statement of vibrancy injects a fresh and contemporary finish synonymous with the true Australian lifestyle.
