Irvington is a farm-to-table restaurant located in Manhattan’s Union Square that draws inspiration from the nearby farmers market. Both the space and menu are focused around a respect for materials and produce. Natural materials of wood and leather are juxtaposed with a more industrial palette of blackened metal and glass fixtures. The kitchen is left open for people to experience food preparation first hand and is, enhanced by the huge artwork hanging above a rotisserie oven, the focal point of the space. In naming and creating the branding for Irvington, we were drawn to the iconic New York literary figure Washington Irving for his prevalence in the Union Square district, his relevance to New York City and the playful nature of his character.
