Irregular Polygon rug is hand-tufted of wool and silk, measuring 7' x 7', manufactured by Odabashian. The design of Irregular Polygon is derived from my painting PreFab2. Irregular Polygon is an example of how my practice as a painter is extended into the design of surfaces for interiors and architecture. Irregular Polygon reflects my interest into the capacity of decoration to affect perception. The rug appears to shift shape when viewed from varied vantage points. The rug then inspired the installation Splinters + Polygon Projections, an exercise in expanded painting, a stage set that occupied Dorsch Gallery in Miami, May 2012. The dance theater artist Octavio Campos further de-constructed the installation during a performance titled Hombre Geometrico. Painting>Decor>Installation>Theater.
