The refugee camp is located between the north and southbound lanes of
the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway beneath the exit ramp to the
Williamsburg bridge in Brooklyn, New York. The program is conceptually
influenced by the opening scene in Scarface. The intervention, divided
into 16 modular units, is a simple extrusion of the site to allow
access from the Grand Street overpass. Cuts in the extrusion allow for
circulation, ventilation and the penetration of sun light.
